One of the four foundational elements of our business is "fairness". Fairness starts with how we source our green beans. All our coffee is organic and fairly ...traded, and about 90% of our beans are sourced through the Cafe Femenino Program International. The goal to empower female coffee farmers using the production and sale of their own product as the vehicle to create social change has become a movement. As part of this partnership, Gros Morne Coffee Roasters provides financial support to the Cafe Femenino Foundation and the Corner Brook Status of Women Council

This year has been extremely challenging with all that is happening in the world. I don’t know about you, but I find myself looking for ideas and actions that ...help build family and community while respecting the new social distancing guidelines we are being asked to support as good citizens. One idea is to take part in a Two Blind Brother’s Shop Blind Challenge. When the Two Blind Brothers were seven-years-old, they were both diagnosed with an incurable eye disease. They tell the whole story on their TEDx talk on Youtube. The brothers talk about how hard the initial diagnosis was for their parents, and even though the mission of Two Blind Brothers is to help cure blindness, it is equally about giving hope to the next parent of a newly diagnosed child. As the brothers put it, "we can't go back in time and help our parents, but we can all try to change the conversation for the next parent". Needless to say, I LOVE this. Since then, we've taken the "shop blind challenge". Here’s how it works. You go to their website (https://twoblindbrothers.com), and they’ve hidden all of the information: No product images, no descriptions, nothing except a price. They ask you "Will you shop blind?. And then, they will ship yousomething. They explain that it's all about trust. When we are at our low moments, it’s often the kindness or trust we place in others, that lifts us up. When you are blind, trust can be a valuable tool for independence. The last time I did this I bought the $63 category. I didn’t know what to expect. I waited a few days and then a mystery box showed up at my door. I opened the box....and I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but it was UNBELIEVABLE. Not only did I love what I received, but the messaging was BEAUTIFUL. All I can say is that you or someone you know will LOVE what is inside. I think they also offer free returns. And either way, all of the profits go to charity to find cures for blindness. It sounds a little scary, but I promise it will be one of the best, feel-good purchases you will make. Give it a try this holiday and embrace trust.
